Why don’t I buy my own local 3G sim card?

The number one reason is that the majority of smartphones such as iPhones are locked to your home carriers. Also some phones are incompatible with other networks or sim cards. For example, if you’re with Verizon (Limited CDMA Coverage), NTT DoCoMo, or Softbank.

You also get the advantages of keeping you own number, connecting multiple devices, and having fast internet access at your convenience. It’s also time consuming and expensive to buy your own M-Unit and manage credit on multiple sim cards.

Plus having a personal wifi hotspot is much better than just 3G on your phone because you can make Skype calls from your phone and see more battery life improvement.
